In order to bring uniformity in the practice and procedure of Trade Marks and to provide a general outline to the stakeholders regarding prevailing practices in Trade Marks Registry, a draft of Manual of Trade Marks Practice and Procedure has been prepared. This manual attempts to present the provisions of the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and rules made thereunder along with office practice in a simplified manner. It categoriezes the issues in three parts: underlying concepts, the requirements from the stakeholders and the office involved as per the provisions of Trade Marks Act, 1999 and rules made thereunder. It also reflects the changing practices in view of the Information Technology advancements and their implementation by the office.
